Memorial Day Program and Procession
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America.
American Legion Post 171 invites the public to join them as they honor our fallen soldiers.
The Memorial Day Program starts at 9:15 am at American Legion Park on Main Street (next to Union Grove High School), followed by a procession to the Union Grove Cemetery where military honors will be given.
**Please remember that while other communities do offer a parade on Memorial Day this event is a procession. A procession is an organized body of people walking in a formal or ceremonial manner. Candy and floats are not a part of this solemn occasion. This time is dedicated to honoring the memory of those who lost their lives so we can enjoy our freedom. The pubic is welcome to join the procession to cemetery for the military honors ceremony.
